Mosaic Garden Sparklers
Mosaic Garden Sparklers came about because we needed to find a purpose for small plastic bowling pins that had outlived their usefulness at the mini-bowling alley. They were banged up, broken, and no longer needed, and we couldn't recycle them. So we snagged them, because we're always on the lookout for "interesting'"things to use for our mosaic work. Bowling pins certainly fit that bill. And, we really like keeping things out of the landfill.
The pins took up space in our studio for a couple of years before we tired of stumbling over them and moving them from one corner to another. That's when inspiration struck: "Let's turn them into yard ornaments." Picture the two sisters jumping for joy, clapping our hands in glee. We scratched 'em up, glued glass to the outside, perched them on copper rods and let the tops explode with beaded wire, like sparklers on the Fourth of July.
People Loved Them!Who knew mosaic garden sparklers would be such a hit? In our first season, we made twenty Garden Sparklers. It was all the bowling pins we had in our stash. Now we have a waiting list, because, these babies are on the endangered species list. Well, not like the polar bears, but they are definitely hard to find. Thank goodness we have our sources, and have it on good authority that we'll have at minimum, twenty more small bowling pins for the upcoming spring/summer season. Woo hoo!
Our sparklers beg to be touched, caressed, admired. Apparently, bowling pins are like that, especially when they're dressed to the nines with more bling than most MTV party goers. Who knew? Get Your Orders In Now We can't make any guarantees as to how many we'll have or how long they'll stick around. Just know, when they're gone, they're gone.
